Noddy Bay Sea Glass was founded by me, Carolyn Pilgrim in 2007, sort of by accident! I had enjoyed many trips to Newfoundland and Labrador with my husband and daughter. During our trips we began beachcombing and collecting beach glass, or sea glass.

Beause I had to do something about the growing collection that I was bringing home, I started creating jewellery pieces, other unique items and photgraphy. Then I began attending farmer’s markets and craft sales.

Eventually, I would like to have a small studio on our little chunk of land in Noddy Bay, NL.

I use hand-picked, naturally polished sea glass to create beautiful pieces of jewellery and art. Although I do not have any formal training in art, I learned quite a lot from my Aunt, who is a very accomplished and talented artist and art teacher.

Almost all of Noddy Bay Sea Glass creations are made from glass picked from beaches on the Northern Peninsula of Newfoundland and Labrador, Canada.

The glass is gathered, sorted and paired for jewellery pieces, or it is chosen for painting or photography pieces.

Over time I have followed my roots a bit more and got back in to creating artwork, specifically painting, in acrylic, pastel and watercolours. I still love sea glass, and beach combing, and creating unique pieces, but I have really enjoyed getting back in to painting. It’s therapeutic and relaxing and challenges me in ways that makes my heart happy!

In the fall of 2021 we made the big move from Alberta to Noddy Bay, NL. We built a small but functional studio in the yard and I continue to hone my craft, little bits at a time! I will be releasing some prints in the future and selling some original watercolours also. Stay tuned!
